Business Improvement District’s (BID's) are not fit for purpose & an unnecessary stealth tax on hard working businesses, many of whom just don’t need the extra cost forced on them when business running costs are high enough.
BID companies and proposers will only ever highlight what they see as the positives of their BID as they want a mandate, but at the same time businesses need to be aware of and ensure they have considered the alternative viewpoints, the associated downsides and potential risks they haven’t been told and would be voting for.
Where ever you look across the UK there are so many demonstrable examples of the negative aspects to BIDs which are;
Undemocratic practices
Lack of accountability
High administration costs
Reducing financial demands on Councils
Poor governance
Dividing business communities
Lack of transparency
Poor return on investment
Over promising and under delivering
Whether it be for a ballot developing a new BID, or a BID renewal ballot, every business community needs to be fully informed and should strive for the highest possible voter turnout, so that any ballot result is truly representative of the businesses.
But to achieve this it is only fair that both sides of the argument are respectfully made, so that each voting business can make their own fully informed decision based on all the available information.
The alternative views, the NO BID argument, the truths BID proposers won’t tell you about, is the information gap this website aims to fill.
UK wide there are many businesses people that have experienced the negative impact of BIDs on their business communities, and so to help others not go through the same pain they are willing to help others ‘fight off’ BID proposals and hold their BIDs to account.
This website contains a wealth of information from these business people to help you do this, and you’re also welcome to contact us so we can put you in touch with the right experienced Against BID campaigners to help you, email AgainstBID@gmail.com.
