FiverFest Mistruths from Advancing Aberystwyth
The Town had it's first FiverFest Event last year in October and Advancing Aberystwyth are taking much of the credit for this event as their own but this is not true.
FiverFest is NOT an Aberystwyth only event, it is a NATIONAL event. 130 Towns took part in 2020, with thousands of independents joining in. TotallyLocally who's brainchild it is even have a note on their website stating FiverFest is trademarked & copyrighted so no changing bits or copying it and "pretending it’s your idea".
The second mistruth is if the Town votes NO to a second term we will lose FiverFest. Aberystwyth does NOT need Advancing Aberystwyth to run FiverFest next year, it needs a simple sign up, little bit of organisation and promoting which can all be done by a single person with no funding.
Advancing Aberystwyth really are making out that nothing in our Town takes place without them and is a real discredit to the efforts of those people that have put on events for many years. Cyclefest, Race For Life, Christmas Lantern Parade to name a few, and by simply throwing a few quid at an event does not make it your own.
