FREE? Advancing Aberystwyth is wasting levy funds on utility brokers.

FREE, FREE, FREE !! But is it really FREE ???

We see an emerging pattern from Advancing Aberystwyth, FREE Re-Opening Packs, FREE Courses, and once again FREE Energy Saving, but as in life and most certainly in this case, nothing is FREE !!

What Advancing Aberystwyth is failing to show ( unless of course you asked them, but why would you ? ) is the true cost of this FREE service which is £10,000 per year and has done for the past three years, so by the end of this BID term, £40,000 will have been paid to Meerkat.

It was voiced at the offset, 4 years ago, that the BID should not be paying for this, there are many companies that offer this service for free but it appears Meerkat is on the BID Approved Supplier List and they are pushed in regardless.

Ask yourself, does it take 4 years to go around 400 businesses in Aberystwyth offering this service ? For £10,000 per year, shouldn’t they be calling, arranging appointments, but no, the onus is on you the levy payer to contact them.

Ringing a number in Haywards Heath, South England, the money isn’t staying local, isn’t even staying in Wales, going totally against the remit of the BID in trying in all cases, where possible to keep money local, then moving further afield once avenues locally are exhausted but we know this was NEVER done.

To rub salt in the wound, you don’t even have to be a BID business to use Meerkats’ utility cost reduction service!

This simply shows how levy money is wasted, the money you work so hard to earn, is passed on to a company that really has not provided a full and thorough service, neither has this been overseen by the highly paid BID Team and the Board has simply signed this off year after year without any thought for the businesses that they are claiming to represent.

If you don’t want another 5 years of these money wasting projects ( there are more ) simply VOTE NO in teh upcoming ballot !!!
