How can we lose something we don’t have?
Advancing Aberystwyth are claiming if the businesses of the Town vote NO in the ballot it will lose a list of things, including the Aber Zip Wire !
This project is currently in "dream phase", has NOT been presented to the Council and most certainly NOT gone through any Planning Processes.
From a construction point of view, the engineering required on this would be huge and most certainly will not be tethered to the Pier as suggested.
Will not be a single cable as pictured because if you do your research, two or more riders is the only way these ventures are financially viable. Anyone who has been to any ZipWorld site will know the amount of space and infrastructure required on the landing zone alone.
But let's stop for a second and be realistic, this project would cost millions, and would seriously impact our Victorian Seafront that the Council want to protect so much.
It is great to have ideas and ambitions but to use them as leverage for Yes votes, it is a trick commonly played out with all BID's in order to secure another 5 Year Term.
When deciding whether to vote Yes or NO, ask yourself, what has the BID done for you and your business over the last 4 1/2 years and look at what they claim they can do over the next 5 years on a smaller budget and decide whether you are going to see any benefit.
